Crypto Halving Events

The Bitcoin Halving, also known as the "Halvening," is a significant event in the world of cryptocurrencies, particularly in the case of Bitcoin. It is a pre-programmed event that occurs approximately every four years, or after every 210,000 blocks have been mined on the Bitcoin blockchain. The primary purpose of the Bitcoin Halving is to reduce the rate at which new Bitcoins are created, ultimately leading to a capped supply of 21 million Bitcoins. In the early days of Bitcoin, the reward was 50 Bitcoins, but the first Halving in 2012 reduced it to 25 Bitcoins, the second Halving in 2016 reduced it to 12.5 Bitcoins, and so on. This reduction in rewards is what creates scarcity and limits the total supply of Bitcoin.

Litecoin is the so-called "Silver'' to Bitcoin. The Litecoin halving event, which occurs every 4 years, specifically reduces the number of Litecoins generated as a reward for mining by half. For example, if miners were previously rewarded with 25 Litecoins per block, the halving would reduce it to 12.5. Litecoin's supply is capped at 84M.
